There’s something magical about being on an island. It feels like a dream state where the rest of the world just… disappears. Your to-do list, your inbox, even your phone signal - suddenly none of it matters. So, for a couple who wanted to host the most intimate, immersive wedding weekend (and let’s be honest, maybe low-key throw the best party their friends have ever attended), there was no better setting than a tiny island off the coast of Maine. Like a private estate wedding in Maine, but better.
This one was perfection. We still talk about it in the office years later. But what the photos don’t show (what they aren’t meant to show) is the logistical choreography it took to make it feel effortless. Spoiler: it wasn’t.
Let’s talk about the tide.
The (undisclosed) island is only accessible by pre-arranged ferry or private barge - and even then, only when the tides allow. For our left-brain legend Lindsey (our Director of Planning), this was basically a dream project.
Timing load-ins, managing short working windows (the tent took several days because the team could only build during tide-safe hours), provisioning literally everything, from buildout materials to F&B to toilet paper for the guest cabins, was a full-scale operation.
All vendors: florists, caterers, lighting teams, tent installers; had to arrive by barge and complete their work within a narrow window. No one could “swing by” or stay late to fix something. If you weren’t on the boat, you weren’t on the island.
(Side note: Lindsey’s camera roll from this weekend includes a photo of her physically moving the dance floor several feet because it was off-center and the tent team couldn’t come back the next day. She was showered with spa gift cards upon return to the mainland. These are the stories we tell when people say our jobs are glamorous.)

The whole flow had to be so dialed that no one would notice it at all. Because it’s supposed to feel easy-breezy, you know?
The design wasn’t just visual, it was environmental.
What we love most about this wedding, aside from the satisfaction of pulling it off, is how deeply the design reflected the place itself. The color palette came from the marsh grass and ocean air. The creative direction included references to wind, water, and light. Every sense was considered.
Even the photography was chosen to reflect more spirit, less styling. And yes, there were trade-offs. That’s what happens when you’re on an island. But we stayed focused on the why of the celebration, and that clarity guided everything.

You can feel it in the photos: no stress, no stiff poses, no super-curated moments. Just two people, surrounded by everyone who adores them, trusting that every detail had been thought through.
